I am a PhD student in microbiology at McGill University under the supervision of Drs. Lyle Whyte and Charles Greer. My project is on the characterization of the microbial communities of two groups of cold saline springs located on Axel Heiberg Island, in the Canadian high Arctic. Since 2003, I have participated in 4 field seasons at these sites, measuring physico-chemical parameters and in situ microbial activities, and collecting samples for microscopy, culturing, and molecular studies.
